There was a wide variation among genotypes for all the growth parameters during all growth stages. NLR 3010 recorded significantly highest CGR values at 60 to 75 DAS (12.07 g m−2 day−1). LAI increased up to flowering (75 days) and thereafter declined. LAI significantly varied among the cultivars throughout the growth period. The genotypes NLR 3010, NLR 40059, NLR 33671 and NLR 34242 maintained significantly higher LAI at anthesis and thus ascertained moisture stress tolerance. The genotype NLR 3010 maintained significantly higher LAD values. LAI and LAD seem to be Important components for determining the dry matter accumulation and grain yield.
