Tephrosia Pers. (Tribe Millettieae, Family Fabaceae) is a large seasonal pantropic genus with about 400 species. In India, the genus Tephrosia is represented by 29 taxa. In present investigation, cytological studies were carried out on T. purpurea, T. maxima and T. villosa. The spesies showed 2n=22 and was placed under 3A category of Stebbins classification
