Abstract

Pigeon pea was cultivated with either black moong, walpapdi (Indian bean), cow pea, gram or niger in 1:1 row ratio. The plant height of pigeon pea was not affected due to intercropping, however, number of branches and pods per plant, and dry matter accumulation were significantly influenced due to the cultivation of pigeon pea with black moong.. The lowest weed population and weed dry weight was observed in pigeon pea + cowpea intercropping system. Pigeon with black moong intercropping recorded significantly higher seed (663 kg−1 ha−1), stalk (2630 kg ha−1) and protein yield (153.70 kg ha) with 4.19 benefit cost ratio.
