Effect of urea, potassium nitrate and insecticides through foliar application on growth, yield and quality of cashewnut

The foliar application of 3% urea and KNO₃ with insecticides had significant effect on growth, yield contributing characters, fruit set and fruit retention. Whereas, maximum and significant nut yield tree⁻¹ and nut yield ha⁻¹ was obtained with 3 per cent urea spray at new vegetative growth, flowering stage and at seed setting stage. The highest protein content in the nuts was observed with 2 per cent foliar spray with KNO₃. The maximum average weight of nut was observed due to the foliar sprays of 2 per cent KNO₃. The highest shelling percentage was recorded due to foliar sprays with 3 per cent urea.
