During faunasitc survey total 400 Linnaean acuminata and 400 Indoplanorbis exustus from 12 different spots were collected. Snails were examined for cercarial infection and other larval stages of the parasites. The infection was more acute in Lymnaea than in Indoplanorbis. Both species of freshwater snails were found to be infected with Xiphidiocercariae. The zoonotic importance of xiphidiocercariae is discussed.
