Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at the Research Farm of Highland Agricultural Research and Extension, Centre Kukumseri (Lahaul&Spiti), CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur (Himachal Pradesh) for the two consecutive summer seasons during 2006 and 2007 to study the effect of integrated use of nutrients in capsicum (capsicum annuum L. var. grossum) under high hill dry temperate conditions of Himachal Pradesh. Application of FYM @5 t/ha + Azotobacter+ PSB significantly increased growth and yield attributes of capsicum. The treatment FYM 5 t/ha + Azotobacter was also found at par with FYM 5 t/ha + Azotobacter + PSB. Biological yield, gross returns, net returns, economic efficiency and B:C ratio were significantly higher with FYM 5 t/ha + Azotobacter + PSB over rest of the treatments. The fertility level of 150 per cent of recommended NPK, recorded highest yield and net returns as compared to 100 per cent NPK. Soil chemical status was significantly improved with the application of 150 per cent of recommended NPK during both the years of study.
