Abstract

Polymerase Chain reaction (PCR) technique for detection of banana streak virus (BSV) was standardized, and an annealing temperature of 58° C for 30 seconds was found suitable for amplification of BSV specific PCR products. Adistinct virus specific PCR product at 730 bp was obtained from BSV infected plants. RT-PCR technique for detection of cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) was also standardized, wherein annealing temperature of 60° C for 1 minute was found most suitable for amplification of CMV specific PCR products.
