Management of epiphora by nasolacrimal probing and flushing

The study was carried out in 6 healthy clinical cases of dogs presented at T.V.C.C Jabalpur,with signs of epiphora. All the 6 animals were found to have nasolacrimal system defects including blockage of nasolacrimal duct, imperforate puncta, and dacryocystitis, leading to faulty tear drainage which was confirmed via Jones Flourescein Dye Test, Dacryocystorhinography,Ophthalmoscopy and Schirmer Tear Test (STT). These dogs were subjected to probing of nasolacrimal duct system followed by flushing with normal saline. Following treatment, revealed lacrimation was moderate on 3^rd and 7^th day in all cases while it was mild on 14^th day. None of the cases showed lacrimal discharge and signs of epiphoraon 21^st day.
