Abstract

While cytological screening of Trilobachne cookei (Stapf) Schneck ex. Hern few plants were isolated showing aberrant meiotic pathways. In most of the meiocytes, diakines appeared to be normal showing ten bivalents. However, Clumping of chromosomes, secondary associations, precocious disjunction and movements, lack of segregation, unequal segregation, interlocked bivalents, interchanged quadrivalents, pycnotic nuclei and variable degree of stickiness at different stages of meiosis I and II were observed, leading to reduced pollen fertility.
