Abstract

Among the autoclave assisted acid and alkali treatments, sulfuric acid pretreated straw gave highest sugar recovery (28.8%) with maximum weight loss (39.52%) as compared to sodium hydroxide pretreatment. Among the rice varieties evaluated,Pusa basmati 1121released the highest fermentable sugar for ethanol production.
