Genetic variability, genotypic and phenotypic coefficients of variation, heritability, and genetic advance analysis were undertaken for eleven characters, path coefficient analysis was undertaken for nine characters of ten genotypes obtained from the cross M-3-1 X H-24 in F3 generation. High genotypic coefficient of variation was observed for average fruit weight, fruit yield per plant and average pericarp thickness. High heritability, coupled with high genetic advance was observed for average fruit weight, fruit yield per plant, days to first flowering, and average pericarp thickness which indicated additive gene action for these characters, which could be improved by simple selection method. Average weight of fruit and equatorial diameter at both phenotypic and genotypic levels were significantly positively correlated with yield per plant.
