Identification of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) genotypes for resistance to pod borer and Fusarium wilt

Abstract

The study was conducted in 100 chickpea genotypes for detectionof resistant sources to Fusarium wilt disease and pod borer (Helicoverpa armigera L.). Out of them 39 genotypes recorded less than 10% damage, 42 between 10 to 20% and 19 genotypes showed more than 20% per cent and above pod damage caused by the pod borer (Helicoverpa armigera Hubner).Out of 100 chickpea genotypes, 44 showed resistant reaction, 11 moderately resistance, 22 tolerant, 15 moderately susceptible and 8 susceptible to Fusarium wilt. Among the 100 chickpea genotypes, 14 genotypes recorded resistance to both fusarium wilt and pod borer damage. Such genotypes can be used for further improvement.
