Effect of iron, zinc and manganese levels on yield and yield attributing characters of rice

Abstract

In a field experiment with 3 levels of Zinc (Zn) 0, 5 and 10 kg ha−1, 3 levels of Iron (Fe) 0, 15 and 30 kg ha−1 and 3 levels of Manganese (Mn) 0, 5 and 10 kg ha−1 on rice it was found that zinc @ 10 kg ha−1, iron 15 kg ha−1 and manganese 5 kg ha−1 produced highest number of panicles/m2, filled spikelets (grains)/panicle, maximum panicle weight, panicle length, grain filling percentage, test weight, and grain and straw yields. Individually Zn, Fe and Mn registered 12.05, 8.60 and 4.46% more yield respectively over control. Furthermore Zn @ 10 kg ha−1 was found to interact significantly with Mn @ 5 kg ha−1 and Fe @ 15 kg ha−1 in producing higher grain yield. Mn and Fe also interacted significantly and registered maximum increase in straw yield.
