Abstract

The parents Ghungari (P1) and SB-11 (P3) were found to be a good general combiner for thirteen characters, where as RHRGS-6O97 (P2) was found to be the good general combiner for eleven characters out of sixteen characters studied. The parent RHRGS-6097 (P2) was good general combiner for fresh pod yield per plant, number of filling pods per plant, fresh and dry pod yield, harvest index, HKW, and SMK %. The parents Ghungari (P1), SB-11 (P3), RHRGS-6083 (P5) were good general combiner for oil content.The best three hybrids on the basis of SCA effects for yield and yield components were SB-11 x TAG-24 (P3x P4), SB-11 x RHRGS-6021 (P3 x P7) and TAG-24 x RHRGS-6O21 (P4 x P7)
