Performance of PM X CSR₂ race of silk worm Bombyx mori L. on different varieties of mulberry

All the economic characters viz. larval weight (39.10 g), single shell weight (0.372 g), cocoon shell ratio (20.70 per cent), denier (2.71) and disease incidence (2.83 per cent) of silkworm, race PM x CSR₂ were found to be superior when those were reared on the leaves of V-1, S-1635 varieties of mulberry. On the other hand larval weight (34.83 g), single shell weight (0.334 g), cocoon shell ratio (18.23 per cent), denier (2.92) and disease incidence (5.02 per cent) were found to be inferior in case of larvae reared on the leaves of M-5 variety.
