Three heterocyclic compounds viz., 8-Azaguanine, 5-Fluorouracil and 2-Thiouracil were applied to chilli plants inoculated with tobacco mosaic virus. Maximum inhibition of Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) was observed due to the spray treatments of 2-Thiouracil before and/or after inoculation at weekly interval. In addition there was substantial increase in growth parameters of infected chilli seedling treated with purine and pyrimidine compounds indicating their role in management of TMV in chilli.
