Divergence among double cross derived lines of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.)

Abstract

Genetic divergence in forty six upland cotton (G. hirsutum L.) lines derived from double crosses involving hybrids picked from the All India Coordinated Cotton Improvement Project was studied for fifteen yield and yield contributing traits at Agricultural Research Station, Dharwad. The inter-cluster distances were greater than intra-cluster distances, revealing considerable amount of genetic diversity. The results obtained suggested that the lines DC-111, DC-1151, DC-241, DC-1141, DC-131, DC-1101 and DC-181 can be selected for further crop improvement programs.
