Abstract

Performance of developed nutmeg decorticator significantly affected by pre-shelling treatment in combination with cylinder speed and moisture level. Nutmegs at 12% moisture content steamed for shell softening process and fed to the decorticator rotating at 450 rpm, gave higher decortication efficiency (99.20%). The capacity of decorticator was higher when raw nutmegs with 12% moisture content were fed at a runningat speed 450 rpm. It was found to be havingbest decortication performance.
