Banana semilooper, Chrysodeixis acuta (Walker) was found for the first time damaging banana plants at early stage of growth with 10.27 per cent infested leaves. The average duration of first to sixth instar larvae increased from 2.48 ± 0.68 to 4.14 ± 0.80 days. The total larval period was completed in 19.86 ± 1.42 days. The pupation took place in silken cocoon underneath leaves. The pupal period was of 8.11 ± 0.82 days. The newly emerged, moths were with two silver metallic spots of “8” shape on each forewing. The average pre-oviposition, oviposition and post oviposition period were 2.50 ± 0.70, 1.94 ±.058 and 2.03 ± 1.28 days, respectively. The average fecundity of the female was recorded as 122.30 ± 29.05 eggs.
