The investigation deals with the influence of microbial enrichment of organic manures viz., compost, vermicompost and biogas slurry on their nutrient status and effect of their application on the nutrient uptake, growth and yield of brinjal in a pot culture experiment undertaken at Main Agricultural Research Station, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad during Kharif 2010. There was improvement in the N, P and K contents in the manures due to microbial enrichment.The growth parameters of brinjal like plant height, root length, number of branches, number of leaves, chlorophyll content, dry matter production, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant and fruit girth were significantly highest due to the treatment consisting of combined application of enriched compost, enriched vermicompost and green leaf manure at all the stages of plant growth. The results obtained were at par with those obtained due to RDF + FYM applications.
Enrichment, organic manures, nutrient status, growth and yield parameters
