Extent of damage to chilli due to gall midge, Asphondylia capparis (Rubsaaman)

Abstract

The incidence of chilli gall midge, A. capparis on flower ranged from 2.61 to 15.55 at 7 days after release, which increased to the extent of 15.04 to 31.23 per cent 30 days after release. In case of fruit damage at 20 to 30, days after release, it showed an increase in damage to 25.50 per cent. Higher dry chilli yield (67g per plant) was obtained from control wherein the midges were not released, while the least dry chilli yield (30 gm per plant) was obtained from plants with 10 pairs of midges per plant.
