Abstract

The relationship between genetic diversity of parental lines with hybrid yield was examined to assess whether microsate llite markers are useful for evaluating germplasm and predicting F1 yield potential and heterosis in rice. Among the five rice hybrids studied, KRH 2 showed maximum diversity between its parental lines, followed by Indira Sona, Sahyadri and CORH 2, respectively. The least genetic variation was exhibitedbetween the parental lines of Narendra Sankar Dhan 2. All these hybrids were with similar maturity duration. It was observed that, under multi-locational trials, the genetic differences between parental linesweredirectly and positively related to yield potential.
