Abstract

In order to identify high yielding ragi genotypes with high water use efficiency, a field study was conducted under imposed moisture stress conditions. Among the 10 ragi genotypes tested GP-153 and GP-111 gave significantly higher values for water use efficiency (WUE) traits viz Specific leaf area (SLA), SPAD Chlorophyll Meter Reading (SCMR), Relative water content (RWC) and Relative injury. These genotypes also recorded higher dry matter production, high grain yield and yield attributes under moisture stress conditions. Hence these may be considered as drought tolerant and suitable for cultivation under rainfed situations
