Biochemical changes in pomegranate fruits infected with Xanthomonas axonopodis
Abstract
Infection of pomegranate (Punica granatum Linn) fruits by Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. punicae decreased total soluble sugar, reducing sugar, starch, DNA and RNA contents in the fruits. The decrease was more pronounced in fruits infected by resistant isolate. The polyphenols increased due to the infection ofXanthomonas axonopodis.
