Abstract

Correlation analysis was carried out among forty progenies of Bird of paradise during 2011 and 2012. Significant variations were observed in vegetative, flowering and yield parameters, indicating wide variability among the progenies. Number of flowers per m2 during winter in both the years (2011 and 2012) showed positive significant correlations with plant height, stem girth, leaf length, leaf width, number of leaves per plant, number of suckers perm2, flower stalk length and flower stalk girth. Its negative correlation was, however, observed with number of leaves per plant. Hence, the Selection of these characters would be effective in improving yield.
