Abstract

Studies were undertaken on the genetic diversity on 20 populations of Equisetum, comprising four species, using RAPD marker and polymerase chain reaction. Total 137 bands were observed, which were found polymorphic. The dendrogram obtained from the cluster analysis using the average distance algorithm (UPGMA) showed eight distinct groups. Thus high level of genetic diversity existed between populations of Equisetum.
