Abstract

The breeding behavior of selected mutants indicated inconsistent segregation pattern. All these results showed high frequency of mutation, non Mendalian segregation ratio for various mutant characters. The genotypic differences appeared to be more important than the differences in mutagenic treatments. Twenty eight mutants were observed in M2 generation of IC-26345 genotype. Out of more than 900 plants screened for dwarf plant type, only two plants showed semi dwarf types in M2 generation due to 20 kr gamma radiation treatment.
