Abstract

An investigation was carried out with finger millet to understand the association among the yield components and their direct and indirect effect on grain yield. The genotypic and phenotypic correlation of grain yield/ha was significant and positive with number of tillers per plant, length of finger, harvest index, grain yield per plot and straw yield per plot. The characters plant height, number of finger per ear, number of tillers per plant, length of finger, harvest index, protein content and iron content had positive direct effect on grain yield/ha. Whereas, the calcium content, straw yield, grain yield per plant, grain yield per plot showed negative direct effect on grain yield/ha.
