Abstract

Struma ovarii in a rare form of monodermal teratoma that contains mostly thyroid tissue. Vast majority of struma ovarii are benign and unilateral, however malignant form is found in small percentage of patients. It's a rare neoplasm representing less than 1% of solid ovarian tumours with a peak incidence in fourth and fifth decade. The final diagnosis is made upon pathological and histological examination of the tissue. Surgical resection remains the definitive treatment. We report a case of struma ovarii in a postmenopausal woman, a rare occurrence.
