During kharif 2007–2008 under protected and unprotected condition the population of aphid, jassid, thrips and whitefly was 7.67, 1.75, 1.55, 7.70 and 13.99, 5.26, 4.54, 16.30 per three leaves, respectively. Population of epilachna beetle per plant varied significantly. Under protected and unprotected condition per cent shoot and fruit damage was 0.00 and 12.17 and 0.00 and 27.22, respectively. During kharif 2008–2009 the population of aphid, jassid, thrips and whitefly was 9.13, 1.92, 1.85,8.85 and 18.27, 5.38, 6.59, 18.62 under protected and unprotected condition, respectively. Higher yield of brinjal (156.24 q/ha) was obtained under protected condition as compared to unprotected conditions (65.37q/ha) with 58.16 per cent loss in Kharif 2007–2008. During kharif 2008–2009 significantly higher yield (150.17 q/ha) was obtained under protected condition as compared to unprotected condition (60.22 q/ha) with 59.89 per cent loss.
