Abstract

Soil tillage systems can be able to influence soil compaction, soil moisture contents, infiltration rate, hydraulic conductivity and crop yield. These processes can be expressed as changes of soil microbiological activity, soil respiration and sustainability of agriculture. Objectives of this study were to assess the effects of tillage systems on soil moisture contents, infiltration rate, hydraulic conductivity and to establish the effect of the changes on the production of Cotton Cropping System. The five tillage treatments were evaluated for clay soil with split plot design under cotton cropping system. A clear difference in moisture content and bulk density was detected in 0–15 and 15–30 cm depth. Moisture content 25.30,28.14 at 200 DAS and bulk density was 1.54 g cm−31.63 g cm−3 at 150 DAS. The effect of tillage treatment, the infiltration rate before and after was varied as 3.33 cm h−1 to 2.17 cm h−1. The yield varies from 12.50 to 19.96 q ha−1 for CvT+SS tillage treatment.
