Record of mealy bug (Phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley) parasitoid, Aenasius bambawalel Hayat (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae) on Tobacco

Abstract

The cotton mealy bug Phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley is a serious pest on tobacco crop. The parasitoid, Aenasius bambawalei Hayat was recorded from mummified mealy bugs from tobacco field at Bidi Tobacco Research Station, Anand (Gujarat). The level of parasitization varied from 3.07 to 67.00 and 5.30 to 48.35% on Anand-119 and ABD-101 varieties of tobacco, respectively throughout the crop period.
