Favorable time for multiplication of major sucking pests and bollworms in cotton

A study on the prediction of favorable time for multiplication of major insect pests was carried out on twenty cotton genotypes at CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, Haryana (India) and revealed that the sucking insect-pests population started their build up from 21 ^st standard week and continued till 42^nd standard week. The activity of leafhopper nymphs, whitefly adults and bollworm infestation in green fruiting bodies was started from 21 ^st standard week (4^th week of May) to 42^nd standard week (3^rd week of October) and 26^th standard week (5^th week of June) to 42^nd standard week (3^rd week of October). The peak activity of leafhopper nymphs (3.0 leafhoppers/3 leaves to 6.4 leafhoppers/3 leaves) and whitefly adults (3.2 whiteflies/3 leaves to 6.7 whiteflies/3 leaves) on cotton was from 26^th standard week to 36^th standard week and 26^th standard week to 3^th standard week, while per cent peak activity of bollworm (5.4 to 6.4) was from 29^th standard week to 39^th standard week, respectively.
