Abstract

Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae isolated from bacterial blight disease of rice (Oryza sativa L.) was grown on different solid and broth media. Out of these Wakimoto's Potato Semi-synthetic medium and nutrient broth medium proved best for growth of bacteria, followed by Silva and Buddenhagen medium and Yeast Glucose Chalk medium. Bacterial colonies were circular, smooth, entire and water insoluble. The color of the colony was creamy yellow on nutrient agar and yeast extract nutrient agar medium, while on remaining media color of the colony was light yellow.
