Abstract

Fructose and sucrose were best for growth of Xanthomonas oryzaepv.oryzae Xoo, followed by galactose and glucose. Among the nitrogenous sources di-ammonium hydrogen orthophosphate, ammonium sulphate and urea accelerated the growth of pathogen, whereas ammonium nitrate, sodium nitrate and ammonium oxalate did not accelerated growth of pathogen and significantly reduced the rate of multiplication of bacteria as compared to even no nitrogen.
