Abstract

Total 97 landraces of rice were collected from 41 villages from Raigarh district. The valuable landraces conserved by the farmers were, Borojhari, Boonde, Komal, Thadvel, JhiniPrag, Bathras, Byalo, Jawaphool, Navadhan, Agiyasal, Jeeraphool, Ratajhinga, Batasphool, Nangodar, Barhasaal etc. These landraces were possessing characters such as fine grain, aroma, red pericarp, early maturity, submergence tolerance and good head rice recovery. These landraces can be utilized for the genetic enhancement and value addition of existing varieties of rice.
