Abstract

The seeds with removed seed coat, soaked in concentrated H2SO4 for 4 minutes followed by washing and soaking in cold water for 24 hours showed early seedling emergence, maximum germination percentage, highest plant height, maximum number of leaves and higher shoot diameter, shoot dry weight, Root length, Root diameter, Root dry weight, seedling vigour index and lowest root: shoot ratio, than any other treatments, which was beneficial as far as seedling growth was concerned.
