Abstract

Superoxide dismutase and Peroxidase isozymes were evaluated, as a tool, for characterizing twenty coriander varieties. The gel electrophoresis of superoxide dismutase was represented by 4 bands whereas peroxidase showed only one band. A polymorphism to the extent of 50% was recorded among twenty coriander varieties with superoxide dismutase. Maximum dissimilarity was shown by the varieties Swathi, Sindhu and CS-6. All coriander varieties showed similar banding pattern except CS-6, Swathi and Sindhu, which showed more number of bands. Variety CS-6 was differentiated from all other varieties due to presence of three bands. The varieties were grouped into two major clusters including Sindhu, Sadhana and CS-6 in one cluster and rest of the varieties into another cluster.
