Screening of mango cultivars against grey leaf blight caused by Pestalotia anacardii

Abstract

Screening with thirty five mango (Mangifera indica L.) cultivars was carried out during the years 2010 and 2011 against grey leaf blight disease. The pathogen was isolated and identified as Pestalatia anacardii (I.T.C.C. No.- 7622.09). Among them Khodi, Amrutiyo, Neelam, Barmasi I, Barmasi II cultivars showed resistant reaction, while Jahangir pasand, Payri, Totapuri, Alphonso, Bombay Green, Dashehari, Gandevi selection I, Gandevi selection II and Vanraj exhibited moderately resistant reaction against grey leaf blight of mango. Eighteen cultivars viz., Nileshan, Ashadhio, Langra, Sardar, Amir pasand, Rajapuri, Jamadar, Neelphanso, Mulgoa, Totapuri Red Small, Amrapali, Arka Anmol, Arka Aruna, Dudhia, Kent, Mallika, Nagina Pasand and Sindhu showed moderately susceptible reaction, while Kesar, Fazali and Pethal showed susceptible reaction against grey leaf blight of mango.
