Abstract

Gamma ray induced novel mutant, isolated by in vitro regeneration from chrysanthemum ray florets were characterized using DUS morphological characters established by the Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV). The DUS (distinctness, uniformity and stability) testing of the novel mutant differed from their parent in ten morphological descriptors out of 78. These novel characters may make them eligible for seeking plant variety protection from the Protection of plant varieties and farmers’ rights authority (PPV&FR) Act 2001.
