Abstract

During present investigation 84 F1s along with their parents were evaluated for yield and yield contributing characters. Correlation analysis revealed that grain yield was positively and significantly correlated with productive tillers, unproductive tillers and test weight, while, grain yield was negatively correlated with days to fifty percent flowering, plant height, panicle length and leaf area. Positive and significant association of days to 50% flowering was observed with plant height, panicle length, leaf area, panicle weight, whereas productive and unproductive tillers recorded negative and significant correlation. Path analysis revealed highest positive direct effect of unproductive tillers on grain yield, followed by number of productive tillers, test weight, Panicle weight and panicle length.
