Abstract

One hundred earthworms (10 weeks old) were inoculated in 10 kg pigeon pea husk, chickpea husk, mung bean husk, and soybean husk+soil (3: 1) mixture and their survival was measured at 90 and 180 days by direct count. Maximum microbial count was noticed in soybean husk + soil (3: 1) mixture (30 x 106) followed by pigeon pea husk and least was recorded in FYM + Soil (3: 1) mixture (14 x 104). The increase in total microbial count in earthworm treated husk were higher than those of control.
