Direct identification of marine fungi from the intertidal and drift woods collected from the beach habitats of Amini dweep of Lakshadweep Island resulted in the isolation of 25 species including 18 Ascomycetes, 1 Basidiomycete and 6 Mitosporic fungi. Antennospora quadricornuta (14.74%) and Matssorium tropicalis (11.58%) were most frequently encountered while 10 species were rare in occurrence.
