The varieties of soybean used, container employed and chemical treatments had significant effect on seed quality of soybean during storage. The var. JS-335 showed greater storability than var. DS-228. The var. DS-228 lost its viability rapidly during storage. The seeds stored in polythene bag showed better seed quality and storability by preventing moisture fluctuations. The seeds stored in cloth bag showed faster deterioration in seed quality of soybean. The polymer coating with fungicide treatment significantly influenced seed quality and storability. The maximum increase in seed storability was observed under treatment of polymer coating with vitavax. The seeds treated with polymer and vitavax maintained storability above minimum seed certification standards (MSCS) for 270 days and also exhibited higher vigour index, low electrical conductivity and less seed mycoflora.
