Abstract

Twenty one groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) cultivars were screened for resistance to Phaeoisariopsis personata under natural conditions. They were classified into resistant (LGN 123, LGN 184, LGN 117, GPBD4, VG9816, RHRGS 06092 and RHRGS 06083), moderately resistant (JL 777 and KGD 112) and susceptible (LGN 153, JL176, JL 501, ICGV96390, ICGV00335, AK327, r 2001-2, ICGV 95386, LGN 1, AK 159 and TAG 24). Morphological biochemical characters of cultivars were determined. Comparatively less stomatal frequency and size was observed in resistant cultivars whereas total sugars and phenol were higher in resistant cultivars.
