Abstract

The digested sludge, woolen carpet waste and pressmud are the potential organic source for rice crop not only supplying N, P, K and organic carbon but also micronutrients such as Fe, Mn and Cu. Organic sources of N brought marked improvement in growth attributes of rice viz. total tillers m−2, dry matter production and Leaf area index which is comparable with the effect of inorganic sources of N on these growth attributes. Similar trend was also observed with the grain yield, straw yield and yield attributing characters in rice. Through these are organic sources of N there was also phenomenal increase in the N, P, K, S, Fe, Mn and Cu content in the rice straw and grain indicating another effective and superior organic sources of N against other organic sources of N such as FYM, compost or green manures.
