Twenty seven R. solani isolates collected from maize and one isolate from rice were inoculated on to 30 days old sorghum cv. PSV-1 using sheath inoculation method. The diversity of virulence among the isolates revealed that isolate RS11 from Khammam district recorded shortest latent period (3.00), maximum Per cent Disease Index, PDI (42.67) and highest relative lesion length (42.04). While the isolate RS7 from Karimnagar district had longest latent period (6.67), minimum PDI (16.67) and 8.33 per cent of relative lesion length. However the rice isolate did not significantly differed from the maize isolates with respect to latent period and PDI. However it recorded maximum (44.02) relative lesion length as compared to maize isolates. The PDI recorded by maize isolates RS1, RS4, RS9, RS14, RS18, even though belonged to different geographical areas, were at par with each other.
