Abstract

The study was carried on foraging activity and relative density of major insect pollinators and other associated insects on carrot bloom, during 2010 at Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology Pantnagar (Uttarakhand), India. Maximum number of A. mellifera (1.1 foragers/twig/2 min) were observed which was followed by A. dorsata and A. ceranaindica (0.8 foragers/twig/2 min each) on carrot flower. In addition, maximum population of H. armigera (2.3 moths/twig/2 min) was observed, followed by those of Syrphus spp. (1.3 foragers/twig/2 min), P. brassicae (1.3 butterflies/twig/2 min), A. Mellifera (1.1 foragers/twig/2 min), A. dorsata and A. ceranaindica (0.8 foragers/twig/2 mineach).
