The study was conducted on assessment of irrigation water quality from Shirur Anantpal tahsil of Latur district during 2011. Total 300 irrigation water samples were collected from 30 villages of Shirur Anantpal tahsil during pre-monsoon (May, 2011) and post-monsoon (October, 2011) seasons. The irrigation water samples were analyzed for pH, Electrical conductivity (EC), Sodium Absorption Ratio (SAR), Residual Sodium Carbonate (RSC) and Boron concentration. The results obtained from investigation revealed that all irrigation water samples from Shirur Anantpaltahsil were alkaline in reaction withaverage pH values of 7.81 and 7.65 during pre-and post-monsoon respectively. The electrical conductivity (EC) was 0.833 and 0.551 dSm−1, respectively, while Boron concentration was 0.95 and 0.69 ppm. The SAR and RSC values ranged from 0.51 to 10.36 and from-5.2 to 2.1 me L−1 in the month of May to June. Irrigation water quality classification as per AICRP suggested that amongst 300 water samples analyzed, 298 (99.33%) were categorized as of good quality, while the remaining 2 samples (0.67%) were with high SAR values.
