Adoption of Technology for The Cultivation of Gram in Western Maharashtra

Abstract

The preparatory tillage, sowing time, spacing, seed rate, fertilizer doses, inter culturing and irrigation largely contributed gram production, of which preparatory tillage, spacing, N application, inter culturing and irrigation showed 95.65 per cent contribution. Out of 70 cultivators, 48 and 22 were categorized in low and medium adoption group, respectively. The recommended technologies adopted by them were sowing time, spacing and seed rate. The major recommended technologies including preparatory tillage (1 ploughing, 2 harrowing), spacing (30 x 10 cm), application of Nitrogen (25 kg ha−1), inter culturing (1 hoeing, 1 weeding) and irrigation influenced the productivity of gram to the extent of 95.65 per cent.
